Board Candidacy Advisory

Two documents from one engagement: a Board Candidacy Profile written to circulate to Chairs, and the private assessment behind it, which tells you where a board would realistically appoint you, and why.

An executive career is not a board case.

You have run businesses, allocated capital and carried the number. None of that automatically makes you a board candidate, and the market rarely tells you why. Board renewal rules in Singapore and Hong Kong are opening seats that long serving directors held.11 22

Titles do not transfer

A chief executive title earns the meeting. It does not answer the question a Chair is actually asking: what will this person contribute in a non executive role.

The first no is rarely explained

Nomination committees decline quietly. Most executives never learn whether the issue was evidence, positioning or timing, so the same gap costs them the next seat too.

Most advice is supportive

Coaches, CV writers and well meaning peers are paid to encourage. Almost nobody is paid to tell you, in writing, where you are not yet credible.

Verified

1 SGX listing rules impose a nine year tenure limit on independent directors of Singapore listed companies, enforced by SGX RegCo.

Verified

2 HKEX listing rules will cap the tenure of long serving independent non executive directors, with transition arrangements running to 2028.

A profile written for a Chair. An assessment written for you.

Are you appointable?Where? On what proposition? What must you build?

“Operating director with direct accountability for capital allocation across a multi-plant transformation.”

Board Candidacy Profile. Two pages. Written to circulate.

  • Board value proposition, written in a Chair's language
  • Appointment focus: board types, committees and contexts
  • Evidence highlights, each carrying its verification tag
  • Governance readiness and independence summary
  • Career facts, verified and stated without inflation
  • How to circulate it, and to whom

Paying Axentia never buys access to a mandate.

No access

Participation provides no introductions, no preferential consideration and no inclusion on any Axentia client mandate.

No placement activity

We do not send your profile anywhere, and we do not represent you to boards. The profile is yours to circulate.

Twelve month standstill

For twelve months after completion, Axentia will not proactively present you on any Axentia managed board search.

Disclosure, then consent

After that period, any prior advisory relationship is disclosed to the client in writing before your identity is shared, and written consent is obtained.

For executives who would rather hear not yet than an expensive maybe.

We take on

  • Sitting or recently exited C-suite, business president and senior functional executives.
  • Executives who want a first or next external seat and do not yet know where they are credible.
  • Executives willing to be assessed, not flattered.

Where we cannot proceed

  • Executives employed by a current Axentia client.
  • Executives who have been candidates in an Axentia search within the last twelve months.
  • Requests for introductions, placement or a rewritten CV.

If we cannot proceed, we tell you within two working days of purchase and refund in full.

Will this get me a board seat?

No, and no honest adviser can promise that. The engagement produces a profile a Chair can act on and a private assessment of where you are credible. Appointment decisions belong to boards.

What happens after I pay?

We run a conflict check within two working days. Once cleared, we send scheduling options for your ninety minute candidacy interview with the Managing Partner. Both documents are delivered ten to twelve working days after the interview, followed by your review session.

Is the fee refundable if the verdict is not yet?

No. You are paying for an honest assessment, not a favourable one. A not yet verdict arrives with the gaps that produced it and what closes each one. Full refunds apply only if we cannot proceed after the conflict check, or if you withdraw before the interview.

Will my employer know?

We never contact your employer or disclose the engagement, unless you ask us to or the law requires it.

Do you introduce clients to boards?

We run board searches for client companies, which is exactly why this engagement is fenced. Participation gives you no access to those mandates, and for twelve months after completion we will not proactively present you on any Axentia managed search.
